Merry Christmas

It's my last day at work today before the library shuts for a two week holiday - Yippee! The kids have finished school now and Daddy is on holiday for two weeks as well. I don't think that there will be much time for the computer during the holidays, so I am going to take a little blogging break and spend some time with my family. I would just like to wish anyone who happens to read this blog a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!! See you in 2009 :)

Christmas Trees........

I have finished making another Christmas tree decoration. It’s my first little Button Tree – I quite like the contrast between the green felt and the red buttons, although I’m not really very happy with the ribbon that I have used for hanging it with. I think that it would have been better with some thinner ribbon. I'll maybe do that the next time!

We put the Christmas Tree up last weekend and the children did a wonderful job of decorating it! It looks lovely, although it is now minus all of it's chocolate decorations ( they must have been taken by some small chocolate monsters and their parents!) We also went to visit Santa, so we are all getting more and more excited by the day - only 9 more sleeps until Santa!!

Christmas Pudding!

This yummy looking Christmas pudding is another one of my growing collection of felt Christmas tree decorations. I designed this one myself and I don't think it's too bad for what is only my second attempt at sewing with felt. I love the way the buttons and felt work together! I can't wait for the weekend to arrive now as we are putting up our Christmas tree and it will be nice to have some handmade decorations on it.

Pink Cupcake

This little pink cupcake is the second of my felt creations ~ it is little trinket box that I made for my little girl who loves all things PINK! The top of the cake comes off and you can hide little bits and bobs inside the cake. I am sure that I will be making a few more of these, as I love the shape and think that it would also make a lovely pin cushion.

Shopping and Wrapping.....

I spent yesterday morning running around the shops like a mad woman and managed to finish my Christmas shopping! I am now going to spend the best part of this morning wrapping everything up and getting it hidden before my children come home from school at lunch time. I intend to have everything done on time this year so that on Christmas Eve I can sit and relax with a nice glass of wine and know that all we have to do is wait for Santa!!

Little Robin Redbreast......

I did it!! I managed to make a little robin Christmas tree decoration from a Make your Own Kit, which came from paper-and-string, and I am really pleased at how he came out.... considering that I have never made anything with felt before. I loved working with the felt, it was so easy to work with. I am now going to have a play about and see what else I can come up with. I think he looks lovely hanging on our Holly tree!!

Christmas Felt Goodies!

I received my felt parcel today from paper-and-string and am planning to get into the Christmas spirit by attempting to make some little felt tree decorations. I thought that I would try one of the make your own kits from paper and string first, and then using some inspiration from my new book - Christmas Things to Stitch and Sew - will try and make a few of my own. I'm maybe being a little bit ambitious, but time will tell!!

Isn't she lovely....

A little bunny arrived in the post today, she is called Beatrice bunny and she came from Esther at Hetty's happy days! who has just started to sell these little bunnies. Isn't she lovely!! I did buy her as a present for my little girl, but I don't know if I want to part with her now!! ( You can see some better photographs of Beatrice on Esther's blog - I have tried hard to set up a link but I can't get it to work!!)

Baby Teeth

Today my little boy had his last follow up appointment at the Dental Hospital. A few weeks ago he had to have 6 of his baby teeth extracted under general anaesthetic! He sailed through it - I was an absolute wreck!! The Dental Consultant told us that his baby teeth had decayed because he had been breastfed after his teeth had come in and that the decay had been caused by the natural sugars found in breastmilk!! I would never have thought that was possible - but if you think about it logically then it all becomes quite understandable!!

Into the Land of Blog!

After being inspired by lots of crafty bloggers, I have decided to take the leap into the Land of Blog! I can't promise that there will be lots of crafty things to see - although I will try my best!! All these other blogging Mummies appear to have a longer day than me, because I never seem to have enough time I need to do everything I want - let alone create lots of crafty goodies!!!There will also probably be lots of stories about my two delightful children and my life as a working Mum.
